Old Favorites and New Endeavors...

I'm up way too late. I can't sleep so what better to do than to blog about my favorite place? :)
Ahh, the Mad Tea Party! They never get old for me, and vice versa, I never get too old for them! But believe it or not there are a handful of things at the Walt Disney World Resort that even I have never done. I have a (be it short) checklist of these things and I am going down the list. With four trips planned in the next five months I think I will make that list slowly but surely disappear.

And what makes these upcoming getaways even more exciting? The events that I have been to before that I cannot wait to attend again!

I will be taking many notes in the upcoming visits to Walt Disney World, along with plenty of photos, and hopefully some good video as well, all to document everything that I encounter and experience...for you. My beloved readers. :) If I can help you to have in any way as great a vacation as I have been privileged to have many times over than that is my goal. :)

One thing that I will talk about briefly tonight that I am looking forward to is the meals in our October trip! I am going to be taking pictures as the food comes to our table. We have reservations at Ohana at Disney's Polynesian Resort, a forever family favorite of ours; and at 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa for dinner. And while I myself am partial to the breakfast at this location, I have never been to the dinner. Check! It is a character meal with Cinderella and her storybook friends, and I've never heard a bad review. I'll be the (foodie) judge of that! LOL!

If I don't say this enough to all of you, thank you so much for reading. And to those of you who post comments and send me emails, I so appreciate it. It makes me smile every time I read that someone can really tell I am writing about something I love. Thank you again and happy reading! Good night!

  1. Jennifer,

I think it is so neat that you get to visit WDW so often. I can't imagine how fun that would be. I commented a few months ago that I am a fellow member of the LMOTC and I would be going for my 2nd time in Oct. You gave me some great advice on where to do our character meals and I made those reservations early so we are getting to go to 3 that I am very excited about. The one thing I have been somewhat concerned about is our last day there we are having breakfast at 10:40 at Chef Mickey's. We will either be driving or taking an off-site resort bus. Our AAA agent advised driving to the Contemporary and telling them we were meeting someone there later, could we park in the overflow parking. He said he has done this many times and gotten a resort tag for the day, then ride the monorail to Magic Kingdom. We aren't sure about this. Would it not just be better to park at the TTC, ride the monorail to Contemporary and then back to Magic Kingdom. What is your thoughts? Also, one other concern I have is that since our last trip, my husband has had bone cancer, in remission and doing well, but tires easily, especially his legs. We know we won't be spending "full" days at the parks, but I was wondering if you had any good advice on taking it slow and easy. This will be our 3 year old twin boys first trip and while I want to make the most of it for them, I don't want to wear daddy out. The good news is my mom is coming with us and a friend and her daughter as well (my 11 year old's best friend) so we are hoping that if daddy gets too tired, maybe the 4 girls can go back at night or something while grandma, daddy and the boys rest. Anyway, just wandering if you had any ideas. Thanks for the input. By the way, we are staying 7 days, going to the parks 5, Sea World 1 and resting one day. I'm hoping this helps with the exhaustion WDW usually brings.

  2. Hi Nikki!!

First off, I wanted to apologize for taking so long to write back to you...I was (where else) in Florida!
I believe that yours and your husbands gut instincts are correct. While I'm sure there are people who tell the guard at the Contemporary fibs to get the parking there, they really have cracked down on giving the parking passes. And I have not seen an all day parking pass given out in a long time. The last time we were meeting people at this resort that were staying there, we had to give their name and the guard checked that they were checked in. Everyone would like to park there, it is within walking distance to the Magic kingdom! But this is also one of the reasons it is considered a deluxe resort and they no longer freely let people take advantage of it. Sure, you may get a guard who lets you...but if you don't (and most of the time won't) you'll get a 2-3 hour parking pass which is the norm for your meal. And then have to move your car afterwards. I am of the thought to park your car wherever you're going to finish. If you don't mind parking at TTC and taking the monorail that's what I would do too. And hey, it's a nice ride! :)

  3. As for the second part of your question, I would definitely look into renting an ECV for your husband. Even though it's October it still is going to be Florida and pretty hot during the day. This way he can rest without overworking himself. Also, if you plan on staying in the parks 1/2 the day with him and possibly sending the 4 girls later, plan your days with Daddy towards the front of the parks. This way he won't have too far to go (those parks are huge...especially EPCOT) when it's time to leave. Either way, take a look at the park maps online and have a plan of the things that you really want to see and experience with Dad. :)

Thank you again for reading and I hope you have a "magical" vacation!! :)
